Vision and Commitment

To preserve the integrity of the air, land, water, energy resources and diverse cultures by inspiring and educating people-especially beneficial owners of trust and pension funds-to make more informed decisions and act on those decisions by directing fund managers to select companies for portfolios invested in the owners' names according to integrated performance criteria. As well, Vital Systems puts out the call each of us to initiate projects and programs that influence everyone in our sphere of influence to powerfully create the culture, language, and tools we use to stabilize climate and population, create food and water security, eradicate poverty, and restore the earth's damaged ecosystems, as we are the generation whose decisions will determine the survival of life on our planet and all species for all time.

Mission

Vital Systems enables individuals and groups of investors to become practitioners of true cost pricing and accounting by:

• Evaluating and growing their portfolios towards sustainable investment performance
• Making informed market purchases based on true cost pricing
• Measuring success in business ventures based on true cost accounting
• Understanding the systems and language of transparency and accountability in governance
• Understanding what does and what does not constitute ethical business practices
• Asking critical questions that drive their own and others' deeper inquiries
• Being relentless participants each day in committing to making decisions that affect the survival of civilization and life on earth for generations to come.

Goals

Vital Systems has taken on the work of Sustainable Ventures, a citizen advocacy education program, whose Our Daily Bread Prize Program hosts the 2009 Our Daily Bread Prize and multi-sector dialogues to engage people from nine market sectors-finance, business, marketing, media, sustainability advocacy, academia, research, agriculture, and government. As Sustainable Ventures, we formed multi-sector on-line Fora, convened multi-sector players in working groups called Implementation Fora, and hosted the 2006 Our Daily Bread Prize. Now as Vital Systems, a consultancy, we:

• Produce reports that integrate inter-sector effective actions to encourage active participation in issues of focus in Vital Systems' community, such as Growing Climate Stability-Food and Farming Actions that Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Nine Market Sectors, including Features such as What About Meat?
• Create educational products to expand the use of true cost pricing and accounting
• Develop curricula for trust and pension fund beneficial owners to:
  • Enhance economic vitality
  • Redress social justice issues
  • Enable sustainable ventures
